2011–2016 · R60 Countryman · Lebanon
The R60 Countryman uses the N16 and N18 engines from the Prince family — the same engine architecture as the R56 hatchback. The N16 is a naturally aspirated version producing 122bhp in the standard Cooper, while the N18 turbocharged unit (184bhp) powers the Cooper S and ALL4 variants.
Because the R60 is heavier than the R56 (approximately 200kg more due to the taller body and available ALL4 AWD system), the engine mounts and ancillary bracket positions differ slightly between R60 and R56 applications. Engine internals are identical between R56 and R60 for the same code, but the engine dress — mounts, harness routing, and ancillary brackets — is R60-specific.
The N18 in ALL4-equipped R60 models requires correct engine mount orientation and correct wiring harness for the Haldex AWD control unit. We confirm ALL4 vs FWD specification before dispatch to ensure the correct harness is included.
