The MINI F56's B-series engines use a timing chain system rather than a belt. Unlike the earlier N14 (used in the R56), the B38 and B48 timing chains are generally more durable — but the tensioner and guide rails still wear over time, particularly on high-mileage examples or vehicles that have experienced oil starvation.

A complete timing chain kit replacement is recommended when purchasing a used F56 with unknown service history, or when cam timing fault codes appear (typically P0011, P0012, P0021, P0022). Our kits include the primary chain, hydraulic tensioner, upper and lower guide rails, and all sprockets needed for a full job.
