The MINI F60 Cooper manual uses a Sachs dual mass flywheel and clutch assembly — the OEM supplier for BMW/MINI products. The dual mass flywheel absorbs the three-cylinder B38 engine's inherent vibration, which is more pronounced than a four-cylinder and makes a good-quality DMF essential for smooth operation.

Symptoms of a worn DMF in the F60 include vibration at idle in gear, a metallic rattle when releasing the clutch pedal at low revs, and clunking when engaging first from standstill. These are typically more noticeable in a three-cylinder application and should not be ignored.
