About This Part

The B48B20 is the 2.0-litre four-cylinder TwinPower Turbo engine used in the MINI F60 Cooper S and JCW Countryman. It is a significant step forward from the older N18 unit — featuring direct injection, twin-scroll turbocharging, and BMW/MINI's Valvetronic variable valve lift system for improved efficiency and response.

In Cooper S trim the B48 produces 192 hp, with the JCW version tuned to 231 hp and the range-topping JCW GP pushing to 306 hp. The engine is shared across BMW's modular family and is widely regarded as one of the most refined small-displacement turbos available.

All B48 engines we sell are compression and leakdown tested, checked for carbon buildup on the intake valves (a known characteristic of direct-injection engines), and verified for oil pressure and coolant system integrity. We do not sell units with known timing chain issues or Valvetronic motor failures.

The B48 in ALL4 variants drives both axles via the 8-speed automatic gearbox and GKN transfer case — confirm your drivetrain spec when ordering.
