About This Part

The MINI F60 Cooper S and JCW use the ZF 8HP50 (or Aisin-sourced equivalent) 8-speed automatic torque converter gearbox — one of the best automatic transmissions in the automotive industry. It provides lightning-fast shifts in Sport mode, smooth city driving in Comfort, and excellent fuel efficiency through its wide gear spread.

The 8HP50 is a longitudinal gearbox adapted to the transverse layout in the F60, which is why it delivers notably better shift quality than the older 6-speed units in the R60. In ALL4 models the transfer case is integrated into the gearbox housing.

Common failure points on high-mileage 8HP50 units include solenoid wear causing shift hesitation, torque converter lock-up shudder at cruise speed, and valve body sticking — all diagnosable by fault codes. Each unit we sell is scanned, all ranges tested, and fluid replaced before listing.
