R50 / R53 / R56 / F56 / Countryman · Lebanon
The MINI HVAC panel controls cabin temperature, fan speed, air distribution (face/feet/windscreen), and recirculation. On manual climate control models (all R50/R53 and base R56), these are controlled by rotary dials with a centre fan speed dial. On automatic climate control (optional on R56, standard on Countryman and F56 higher trims), a target temperature is set digitally and the system controls fan speed and distribution automatically.
A common failure on older MINI HVAC panels is dial illumination failure — the backlighting behind the rotary dials fails, making night-time HVAC control difficult. On automatic climate control panels, display pixel failure (partially blank LCD segments) is also seen.
Each panel is powered up and tested — all dials rotated through their range, all buttons activated, display checked for dead segments, and the rear connector inspected for pin corrosion.
