N14 & N18 1.6L Turbo · 2007–2014 · Available in Lebanon
The MINI R56 Cooper S uses a twin-scroll turbocharger to extract strong performance from its 1.6-litre N14 or N18 engine. The N14 (2007–2010) uses a Garrett GT1238-based unit, while the revised N18 (2011–2014) uses a BorgWarner turbo with improved response and durability. Both are compact, spool quickly, and are designed for direct fit onto the exhaust manifold without modification.
Turbocharger failure on the R56 typically manifests as oil consumption, blue smoke on boost, loss of power, or a loud whining bearing noise. Shaft play beyond 0.5 mm radially or any axial movement indicates a worn unit. All turbos in our stock pass a two-stage inspection: shaft play measurement and a boost pressure test using a controlled air supply to verify the wastegate and actuator function.
We stock both Garrett (N14) and BorgWarner (N18) variants — confirm your engine code (found on the oil cap or chassis plate) when ordering via WhatsApp to ensure the correct unit.
