2011–2016 · R60 Manual Cooper S / JCW · Lebanon
The MINI R60 Cooper S and JCW use a Sachs dual mass flywheel (DMF) and clutch assembly — the same supplier used by MINI at factory level. The dual mass flywheel absorbs drivetrain vibrations and provides smooth power delivery from the N18 turbo engine, but is a wear item that typically requires replacement between 80,000–120,000 km depending on driving style.
Symptoms of a worn dual mass flywheel include vibration at idle in gear, a rattling noise when lifting off the clutch, and clunking when engaging first from a standstill. A worn clutch disc shows as slip under hard acceleration or difficulty maintaining a hill start. Both should ideally be replaced together.
We supply Sachs-branded kits (OEM supplier to BMW/MINI) which include the clutch disc, pressure plate cover, and release bearing. The flywheel is available as a matched unit or separately if the existing flywheel is in good condition.
